Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Thursday that the “liberation” of the city of Mosul from Islamic State’s (ISIS) extremists will be announced in a few days.
“It’s a matter of a few days and we will announce the total liberation of Mosul,” Abadi told reporters in Baghdad, according to to Baghdad-based al-Sumaria TV.
This comes just one days after the government of Iraq announced the destruction of the Great Mosque of al-Nuri in western Mosul by ISIS militants on Wednesday, June 21.
