Daraa, Syria – Syrian warplanes launched several airstrikes against rebel-held areas in the southern province of Daraa on Thursday.
Speaking to ARA News in Daraa, civil rights activist Ahmed Hassan reported that pro-regime helicopters dropped several barrel bombs on the city of Nawa in the countryside of the province, causing the injury of a at least nine civilians.
“Similar bombings targeted the areas of al-Malzuma, Bas al-Hareer, Salmin and the rebel-held neighborhoods of Daraa,” he reported.
In the meantime, rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) targeted gatherings of pro-regime forces with missiles in the university area of Lajat, and also targeted “Brigade 12” in the city of Izraa.
Local sources reported that the rebels’ shelling of the strongholds of pro-Assad forces caused large explosions. The number of casualties remains unverified.
Also on Thursday, the rebel-linked Courthouse in the Horan region in southern Syria issued a statement, calling upon allied factions in Horan and the Golan area are asked to arrest commanders of the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade after they’d swore allegiance to the Islamic State, and killed a number of FSA fighters while on their way to fight the Assad forces in the Baath City of Quneitra province.
