Syrian Coalition condemns YPG and ISIL operations in Hasaka province

Qamishli, Syria – Badir Jamus, the secretary general of the Syrian National Coalition for Revolutionary Forces and the Opposition, condemned in a press conferences in Istanbul on Monday the military operations of the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) in the Arab city of Tel Birak in Hasaka province and the attacks carried out by fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) against Tel Maruf town near Qamisli.

Jamus stated that the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) condemns the YPG operations in Tel Birak city last week and the killing of civilians and burning down houses.

“Such practices threaten the social fabric of Syria and burden the future of the Syrian revolution,” Jamus argued.

Jamus also condemned the attacks carried out by the ISIL fighters against Kurdish-populated town of Tel Maruf near Qamishli in Hasaka province on Thursday.

“The SNC strongly condemns the looting and terrorization of civilians in Tel Maruf town by ISIL fighters,” he said.

“ISIL’s attacks resemble the systematic violence carried out by the regime forces against civilians, and they (ISIL fighters) serve the regime’s plans aiming at weakening the social cohesion in Syria in desperate attempts to eliminate the demands of freedom and democracy,” Jamus concluded.

The ISIL fighters stormed the town of Tel Maruf after withdrawal of YPG forces from the town. However, the YPG retook control over Tel Maruf on Friday.
